Somebody had to be the first restaurant to shutter in 2012, and it looks like McCormick & Schmick's, the national seafood restaurant chain based in Portland, Oregon, has closed not one, but both of its Arizona establishments in Phoenix (2575 East Camelback Road) and Scottsdale (8777 North Scottsdale Road). The Phoenix Business Journal reports both locations were shuttered yesterday, to the surprise of employees, after the company was recently purchased by Texas-based national chain Landry's Seafood Restaurants Inc. -- part of Landry's Inc., which also owns Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Claim Jumper.
The Phoenix Business Journal quotes Kris Guthrie, vice president of marketing for Landry's Inc., saying many employees received opportunities to relocate to other Landry's concepts (including Claim Jumper at 3063 West Aqua Fria Freeway in Phoenix, and the Chart House in Scottsdale at 7255 East McCormick Parkway), and that a handful of other McCormick and Schmick's in other states will be closed for a variety of reasons.
