Mark your calendars, foodies. Tomorrow, May 24, two Valley restaurants are shaking those Tuesday blues and hosting fun tasting events.
Are you a tequila lover? Well, Z’Tejas (at Tatum and Shea in Phoenix) is celebrating the spirit with a special five-course meal-plus drink pairings-designed specifically to bring out different flavors of the food and the flavors of Herradura Tequila. Courses to include:
Fire-Roasted Poblano Queso Fundido with seared mushrooms. Three tastes of Herradura tequila.
Roasted Red and Golden Beets, topped with mesclun mix salad tossed with red onions and cherry tomatoes. Paired with a Herradura French Margarita.
Jumbo Lump Crab, topped with a roasted jalapeno lime cream sauce. Paired with a Herradura Mojito Muddle.
Aged Choice Filet, seasoned and grilled topped with chipotle béarnaise sauce. Served with a Herradura Sunset.
Warm Bread Pudding with chocolate chips and thinly sliced and roasted Anaheim peppers topped with rum sauce and whipped cream. Served with a Good Morning Guadalajara mixed drink.

Monti’s La Casa Vieja in Tempe will welcome Chef Aaron May to the Culinary Masters Series: Aaron May. Best known for heading the kitchens at Over Easy, Iruña, Mabel’s on Main, Vitamin T and The Lodge, May will be putting a Spanish twist on Monti’s classic menu on May 24. Guests are invited to reserve a table from 5 to 10 p.m. to try one of May’s creations. Monti’s usual dinner menu will also be available. May’s Culinary Masters menu includes:
Loaded Potato Wedges “Patatas Bravas” with spicy pimentón and tomato sauce
Barcelona-style Hot Wings with pimiento, piquillo peppers and Cabrales blue cheese
Broiled Cod al Pil Pil with garlic and spicy guindilla pepper sauce
Salmon a la Asturias with green apple, onion and Serrano ham crisp
Monti’s Ribs with quince jelly glaze
Filet Mignon with romesco sauce and grilled calcots
