Glimpse the 2011 List of the Most Expensive American Homes on Sale

Think there aren’t any commonalities to be found among the homes in America with the highest asking prices beyond the multi-million dollar price tag? Well, think again. Though most homes feature unique architecture or locales, luxury is luxury is luxury, as Gertrude Stein might have put it. And that’s probably a good thing.

All of the following homes are listed for more than $50 million. Some homes from last year’s list like steadfast list-topper, Spelling Manor, show up perfectly groomed and manicured once more to make a second run on our yearly list.  Has the price for the Spelling Manor changed? No, it’s $150 million, same as last year.
