Home Furnishings Trend 2011

Metallic Finishes and Accents

Metallic finishes have been popular for a few years. Gold and copper along with silver are not just used on casegoods, but also in textiles as well as rugs.

Metal lends an air of luxury, and both shiny and subdued metal looks have been predicted for this year. Pictured here is ACG Green’s Milano bedding with metallic accents.

Wild Knight, Scottsdale’s newest nightlife extravaganza, is officially opened for all. After one full week of soft openings, including visits from VIP’s, family and friends and media, this luxurious Scottsdale hot spot is ready to rock and roll, full speed ahead.

After a short but sweet experience inside, it can be said, without effort, that Wild Knight will quickly ascend the hierarchy of the Scottsdale nightspots. Yes, it seems that Wild Knight is here to stay. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a “members only” or “invite only” club, but rather a swanky spot for a high-class enjoyment. (Last night they had visits from Ice T and Coco and later from Nik Richie and Shayne Lamas.)

No flash photography is allowed but I can verify Wild Knight radiates with vibes of sexiness. Expect red leather, elaborate furniture, mirrored walls and a white canopied ceiling. Wild Knight is not a restaurant, not a happy hour bar and not a lounge. They are proud to be a club; a club that encourages bottle service for a more intimate evening filled with decadence. Thursday, Friday and Saturdays they open at 9pm and table reservations begin at 10pm. No food, just cocktails, and very good ones. They have an array of specialty drinks made with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka. It was my first, not last, encounter with such concoctions. If you prefer tequila, they are partial to Luna Malvada. Also a first for me, it’s a smooth tequila with a kick. No salt, but served with a lime. One more exclusivity is their six liter bottle of Dom Perignon. Why even bother purchasing a few bottles when you can indulge in Arizona’s largest bottle of champagne heaven?

Wild Knight has incorporated some ultra-posh yet convenient amenities into their sophisticated setting. Guests who have bottle service can relax a little more knowing that drawers are hidden under the couches, allowing the ladies to safely tuck their clutches away for the night. Your reserved table also allows you the privilege of being personally escorted by one of the many security guards to the private bathroom (only for guests with bottle service.) I was also told the bathroom attendants may soon start selling flip-flops for the girls who want to dance sans stilettos! Also noteworthy is their stance on opting for stylish Apple iPad’s rather than boring old menus.

Wild Knight is dedicated to maintaining a friendly and accommodating staff, giving all visitors an ultra- personalized experience. They are also committed to raising the bar in industry standards. I believe this, and I expect to see Wild Knight consistently evolving to incorporate cutting-edge amenities and state-of-the-art technology.

When it’s hot, healthful salads and cooling smoothies sound much more tempting than greasy, fried eats. To cater to those lighter cravings, Arizona is chock-full of incredible spas, many of which with their own cafes that dish up healthy yet satisfying fare. Here are a few of our faves.

Nourish Cafe at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess’ Willow Stream Spa not only dishes up delicious figure-friendly fare, but guests have the option of dining in the open-air atrium (complete with a lake). Menu options include the tasty quinoa crab cakes (we promise you won’t miss the tartar sauce) and the cooling carrot soup. To wash it all down, Nourish Cafe serves up an assortment of refreshing, summery iced teas. http://www.scottsdaleprincess.com/.

Located at Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Sprouts dishes up fresh, organic eats, including organic beer and cocktails. In addition to delicious salads and protein-packed dishes, the heart-healthy menu is rounded out with dessert (think chocolate fondue with berries and angel food cake). http://www.camelbackinn.com/.

The Spa Cafe at the Golden Door Spa at The Boulders Resort is known for its healthy, balanced meals that are tasty and satisfying. On the breakfast menu, spa goers can a figure-friendly eggs Benedict, fruity parfaits, granola French toast and more. For dessert, a warm apple-mango cobbler, a dark chocolate mousse martini and more. http://www.theboulders.com/.

Scottsdale’s Joya Terrace, at the amazing Montelucia Resort & Spa, is a favorite of spa-goers thanks to delectable eats like quail leg and watercress salad, grilled lobster flatbread and much more. The best part? Enjoying the eats around Joya Spa’s rooftop pool. http://www.joyaspa.com/.
